Cannot "Select Geometry" in V24 (specifically Engrave) - The geometry is points

Is there a work around for this?

I'm trying to select a series of points to center drill (also tried engrave). At first it was crashing, now it's at least continuing to run, but geometry isn't selecting.

It will however let me select lines (just not these points).
