    Windows 7 - Aspire and PNC 2300

    HI folks,

I'm trying to get a system up and running and really don't know what I need to do.

I'd like to get it working using :

    PNC 2300
    Laptop: Windows 7 (64 bit).
    Aspire

I can get an older laptop with Win XP if necessary, but would prefer to use Win 7 if possible.

Laptop doesn't have serial or parallel ports, so I got one of these USB to Serial cables. Connected it up and installed the driver for the cable - no probs. Now I have a virtual device.
Reading Roland's instructions for installing the PNC 2300, they say "plug the USB cable into the PC - then turn on the PNC 2300" They say a message will pop up saying it doesn't have a driver etc. and to then install the driver - I have downloaded the latest version for WinXP ( RWD030_25D_DRIVER_forWindowsXP2000v362). However when I plug in the USB and switch on the PNC 2300, nothing happens. Windows doesn't appear to see the new device or try to look for a driver.

Does anybody have this working on Win 7? I'd be grateful for any advice or other's experiences trying this.

    Many thanks,
    Neil

I'm not familiar with that machine, but no driver for XP is going to work in Windows 7.

    Thanks, Gerry,

Unfortunately it's what I thought but worth checking anyhow.

    Many thanks
