    Renishaw MP-10 Probe, Start Signal

I have an MP-10 spindle probe that I am working out retrofitting onto my fadal 4020. the interface electronics that i bought are unfortunately not what I needed. The MP10 probe needs a 'start' / wake-up signal from the OMM. It is my understanding that there is an amber LED that shines when the machine puts out the 'start' signal. What I don't know, is if the start signal is infrared, or if it's that amber color? is the signal modulated / pulsed?

If I can figure out the start signal, ill just put my own start signal generator on the machine made from an appropriate LED, and maybe an arduino microcontroller.

does anyone with an older style MP-10 probe know how the start signal works?

Re: Renishaw MP-10 Probe, Start Signal

I just found an answer. its IR, and it may not be coded. the remote to my yamaha stereo can turn on the probe. so.. looks like im gonna go buy some IR LED's and call it a day.
