Question KMotionCNC with newer Visual Studio? (2012,2013,2014,etc)

Hi, I'm very new here and just stumbled upon the Kflop/KmotionCNC products last night.

I have an MSDN subscription and I was wondering if the software will work with modern versions of Visual Studio, or if it has to be 2008? I'm downloading 2014 now.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Hi Dan,

Our projects/solutions are for VS 2008. So use that if you want them to just work out-of-the-box. KMotionCNC uses MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes) which is not directly supported in the Free Visual Studio Express Versions - but there are workarounds apparently. But that should not be a problem for you if have a subscription. Standard Versions or higher include MFC. The projects usually upgrade to newer versions of VS pretty easily (don't know about 2013 or 2014). A common problem is that when upgrading usually the Output Directory is changed for some reason. The output executable must be located in the c:\KMotion431\KMotion\Release (or Debug) directories so that when it runs it finds all the other required DLLs and EXEs. We don't include the binaries for the Debug versions. To run Debug code you must first build all the Debug Libraries using BuildAllLibs.sln.
