Hello all,
I have a retrofitted Bridgeport CNC currently running on LinuxCNC. The retro was done with a kit that came with a cheap breakout board that recently stopped working. I'm looking into replacing the breakout board with something a little better. I am also considering swapping over to running Mach3. I did some research, and I'm looking for a little advice. CNC4PC seems to be a popular place to get breakout boards. The C11 seems like it would be a much better quality replacement for the board I have now, but if I'm going to switch to Mach3, I'm wondering if it is worth upgrading to a SmoothStepper board while I'm at it. I would need something like the C23 board that has a parallel port to be able to run LinuxCNC (even if I get set up with Mach3 I'd like to retain the ability to switch back). So my question is do I go for a SmoothStepper or just do a straight replacement of what I have?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
