    Mazatrol T32-2 Rs232 communication issues

    Hi everyone.
I am pretty new at the Mazatrol system. I have always worked with G-code. However I am adjusting OK. But I am having an awful time trying to backup my Mazatrol programs to my laptop. I have a USB to a db9 pin and I have made up a new 9 pin to a 25 pin Rs232 cable, as described on this forum. I am confident the cable is good. But when I try to send to my laptop, after a few seconds, a message (515 CNC MIS-CONNECTED) shows up. I have my communication settings for the machine and laptop set as described on this forum. I am using Predator Editor on my laptop. At this point i am wondering if the usb adapter I am using might not be suitable for the Mazatrol. However it works good when communicating with the Haas machining center. I am lost. Don't know what to do from here. Can someone please help.
    Thanks in advance.

Be sure that the Data Bits are set at "7" on the PC and "8" on the control. This is a mismatch because someone did not count right at Mazak years ago.

Can you tell me if I am at the right place to set the CMT I/O, Rs232 communication settings? I went to User parameter No. 4 and made the changes that were listed on this forum. Under <DV1 > I will attach a picture of the screen. Thank you for your help. Click image for larger version.

Hello, curious if you ever got this machine communicating with your computer?

We have (2) Mazak 10MS machines that are (should be) identical. On machine 1 I can send/receive programs to and from the computer to the machine. On Machine 2 I have the exact parameters set, I have checked all of the cabling, using same settings on computer and I can not get this thing to connect. I have tried 7 bit, 8 bit on both the machine and computer and still no luck.

I purchased a 25 pin serial tester and compared LEDs to that of machine 1. I notice that on machine 2 the 'RD' LED is not powered. It is not red or green, just dead. That is the only difference in the two machines that I can find.

This is evidently the Data Transmit line. Does anyone know what the potential problem may be if the 'RD' LED on a test unit is not lighting up? Bad board? Bad connection? Setting wrong somewhere?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Sincerely,
    Mike
