Just got a used VF3, Tool pocket numbers are all over the place

I just took delivery of a 2001 VF3 today and it seems as if the previous owner changed all of the tool pocket numbers for his own needs. For example when pocket #1 is facing the spindle it shows as tool 5 in the tool offsets page. Is there a way to restore the numbers back to the factory default so they are all in order? Its a side mount changer.

    Thanks,
    Jim

The side mount tool changer uses random placement of the tools to speed the tool change process up by prestaging the next tool in the program and the machine keeps track of where each tool is located at all times. Before you ask, no you cannot change this function.

There is a page under the OFFSET button that will display the Tool and Pocket page. There you can visibly see what tools are in each of the carousel pockets. You do have the ability to resequence the display list so that they all go in order, but only do this with an empty carousel since all of the tool assignments will get changed. Keep in mind that this will still only be temporary as the machine will mix them up as the program runs.

It's really not a big deal, just try not to over think the process. Just call up whatever tool number you want in the spindle and forget about where the machine has it stored in the carousel.

    Hope this helps.
