    Tool position indicator

    Hi all:

A friend of mine is searching for a simple ( ?) low cost system to monitor the tool position on his manual lathe.
We talk about camera or ( even better ) 2 axis indication on a screen.
    Perhaps some zero setting also.

Question : any idea, site to look at or article for a DIY system???

    Thanks in advance.
    Jalex,
    Argentina.

    Hi Lakeside

    Answering your question:
Most of the people in this country are getting 3 to 5 hundred dollars per month !(equivalent in local currency, working 9 or 10 hours per day) .
100 dollars is´t exactly cheap for us. Sorry.

Digital readouts are great. Also you can purchase digital readouts that attach directly to your machine handles. You can zero the origin at any point. These are fairly cheap and affordable, around $100.00 each. (.0005 resolution)

One question, what type of machine or machines do you want to retrofit?

thats a sad fact and that why US companies outsource so much What they pay you in a month is less than I get paid in a week and I'm not rich
