    G0704 PROBLEM please help!!

I'm having trouble with my machine. please watch the short video. Problem I'm having is happening at 14sec in the video. I'm running mach3 and using nema 23 570's, and a nema 34 for the Z. all axes have roton ball screws with .1265 oversized balls. The machine was built with Hoss's plans........ Motor velocity is at 120 and accel is at 4 for all axes.

Sounds like something is loose. I also think I am hearing the steppers stalling. Hard to tell as the noise could be a vibration from the stall. try reducing your accel and velocity and see if it makes the noise. Do you have backlash compensation enabled? It sounds as though you might. There is a noise right at the change of direction BC sounds like that upon taking up the slack. Still not the bigger noise you are hearing.

Are you running a code or are you jogging rapidly with the keys? If it is a code for a pocket or similar you are missing steps as I can see the changes at different times in relation to the vise.

Some stalling and something loose? Check your shaft couplers and bring down the velocity/accel for now.

not running any code in the video, just jogging the table. However when I run code on the machine sometimes it will jog itself over while cutting a pocket. I do have the backlash compensation ON, Hoss had me turn it off and try it, and the noise and problem go away.

What do you have the accel rate % in backlash comp set to?

are you reversing before the backlash compensation has a chance to 'compensate'?

Hoss has a video of setting up backlash in mach3 you will need to play with the numbers and see what works best with your machine. it will run rough if not set up right.
