Hello,

Could any one recommend a CNC for guitar making? Our budget is about $10,000.
We build about 60 per year and seeing a growth pattern each year.

Take a look at the Camaster Stinger I ($6,495) ready to run with WinCNC software. It has rack and pinion drive on the horizontal axes and a ball screw on the vertical axis. Hiwin rails throughout. 2-1/4 hp Porter Cable router. 25” X 36” X 5” cutting area. Get a price quote from them with the options you want on it. The one I was watching this week had an HSC spindle on it.

There is no perfect low-end machine. Ideally you want ballscrew drive on each axis, profile rails and a steel frame.

XZero makes good mechanical parts kits that need to be assembled.

K2 has a guitar specific model with ballscrew drive, servo motors and Kflop hardware controller for a decent price. The machines may be a little lite on the frame strength

Shopsabre makes a low cost machine that is rack and pinion drive and wincnc control and also better ballscrew machines but those are outside your price target

Laguna has a low-end Chinese made machine with a B&R controller. Ballscrew drive and stepper motors but round rails. I'd be cautious about big sounding features with cheap construction.

Camaster machines look OK except for the rack and pinion drive. When I emailed some questions regarding machine specs the first was ignored, the 2nd I got a reply that they would get right back to me and the 3rd was again ignored. Too busy ?, too arrogant?, don't know but earned the position of bottom of my list of candidates.

Beyond that you are in the land of hobby machines or more industrial machines that cost a lot more. good luck

I've been in consideration of purchase of the comet from probotix.
They are a ready to run machine.
