    lines-arcs vs spline problem

im a simple 2.5 axis guy, running a cnc knee mill. my cad cam software is APS which is an old (mid 90's?) version of Alphacam. Licom no longer supports APS, wants me to upgrade for $5k uh uh. i dont like APS drawing so i generally draw in Acad 2000, dxf over to APS. im working with a friend who is sending me Adobe Illustrator drawings in dxf. APS wont accept them directly, so i put them in Acad, then sent that dxf over. but when they come thru into Acad they are splines, not lines and arcs, APS wont accept the splines, it wants lines and arcs. is there an easy (yes cheap or free) solution to this? friend also has something called Freehand he can draw in if that helps. thanks!

Save from AutoCAD as a version 12 .dxf and the splines will become polylines.

Or, you can download 2 different spline to polyline converters from Cadalyst magazine.

One is from December, 2003 and the other June, 2005.

If it doesn't like polylines, you'll have to explode them after the conversion to get regular lines.
