Trying to get an idea of average machine rates, especially CNC multi-axis lathe work. What are the going rates in your area?
< $60/hr
$60-90/hr
$90-120/hr
$120-150/hr
> $150/hr

Are these hourly rates in rupees or what? Most guys get $25 to $35 in Australia.
Wisdom results from foolishness!
It's a little more expensive to live in the states than some realize.
Whats multi axis lathe work ?
Stoppers in brass ?
Impellers in inconel ?
Boat propellers ?
A rotary transfer machine or a tornos multiaxis ?
I suggest all above will have widely varying rates for many reasons.
Measuring and gaging them may also effect the rate more than 100%.
Fwiw..
Many aerospace shops have rates under 20$, sometimes.
Again, for many good reasons.
(You probably wont get those rates, again for many good reasons ..)
A serious question when backed with specific pictures, suggestions, quantities and guarantees will get a better result.
We made a ballnut as a demo on a dual spindle lathe with live tooling.
The lathe is a 100k$ piece of machinery.
Spindle time around 30-60€/hr .. depends on how many hours you want to buy.
Or e.g. you can buy the ballnuts, at say 15€ each in qty 500 off-machine.
Off-machine ==no specs, no tests, no gaging.
(They will still be just as good. Just that no-one put time in testing them).
..See what I mean ? It varies.
A 400k mill-turn (Mazak Integrex, eg) will charge more than a basic cnc lathe with c,y and live tools.
Glad I stumbled upon this thread. I am charging $40/hr for manual mill / lathe work. $65/hr for CNC work. If tolerances go out to .xxxx it goes to $85/hr regardless of machine. Is this reasonable?
