    Talking ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE

Hi All. I am a newbie when it comes to cnc routers, having worked with a laser cutter for the past 2 years.

    I am in the process of building a 1.4m x 3m CNC Router/Plasma table
Using Nema 34 878oz motors, 2 on the X axis and 1 on each of the Y and Z (300mm travel), running on a Mod 1.5 rack .
I am mounting a 3Kw water cooled spindle and i gues the Gantry weight to be about 25/30kg with everything mounted.

My question is: Is it nessecary to put a reduction drive from the motor to the rack?
Can i drive it dirctly or should i use a 4:1 reduction.

    Any advice will be appreciated

    Re: ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE

The reduction will be smoother, have more power, and will have better resolution.
