    Crossing Splines XY

Hey, guys! Here's my latest project. Anyone not mesmerized by a 3d printer printing cannot be my friend anymore. Just sayin'. OK, CNC anything, really.

It's a 3d printer designed by myself and Bill Spracher as a mechatronics educational tool and vehicle for making tech jobs for amazing young techies.

And more info at tekma3d.com. And YouTube/techmothership

The crossing splines have made for a very simple and low moving mass XY that's working amazingly well. I said I'd never do a belt drive, until ServoBelt. I swore I'd never do a rack and pinion, but this material combination made it practical, and so ServoSpline was born...
The z and extruder are both worm drives some of you guys will find interesting. I wanted every single thing to be as different as possible. Hope you like it!

Wait'll you see the super version on the drawing board now!

    Re: Crossing Splines XY

Mike that's awesome! Yet another concept that makes me go "DUH" when I look at it's simplicity but the genius is actually dreaming it up! I can't believe I've never seen a 3D printer with a mechanism like this before!
