    DXF help needed please

I have a a DXF of a flame design I want to cut in a PC panel on my new CNC router.

I am very new to this & a beginner.

What programme is easiest & best to convert the file to gcode to cut it?
    I want a 2mm cut with a 1mm pass.

I just cant seem to be able to accoumplish it in lazycam.

The files I do create dont come out right in mach3.

    Help appreciated.

Try Vectric's Cut2D. Very easy to use.

Hi, I have tried cut 2D but no matter what I try I just cant get this file to turn out right.
I can easily generate paths for simple geometry but this one never comes out right in mach3
it only shows half my drawing & if I try routout which I have paid for it wont import it properly.
Can anyone help me with this or can someone use my file & generate a tool path for me.
I desperatly need to get this cut done.
    I am cutting 2mm aluminuim with a 2mm endmill & want to do a 1mm 2 pass cut.

    Mark,

The first problem I see is that the vector is open.

    See the attached jpg.

    Please revise drawing.

Hi Jeff, I dont know what you mean by the vector is open, I am very new to this.

In the jpeg I can only see the flame design, where the flames finish at top & bottom they are supposed to join up into a square so it forms a window.

Have a look at the red circle bottom of the drawing.

Also a single pixel (top left) might cause an open vector issue in your cam program.

    Mark,

You may need to tell your cam software the thickness.
