    Unhappy

    Hello everybody

I have to move off the lateral surface of a cone with the aid of Helix.
The conic section has an opening angle of 45° and is 150 high. Could you explain me how I should program a helix with enlarging radius in ShopMill?
I need help with syntax of helix description. The cylindrical helix is simple, but I don’t know how I can get a continuous enlargement of a diameter.

    Thanks

Activate tool correction and then offn+ or – depending on hat you need. If it goes larger, than rather –

Exactly as you can input offn=20, offn=-20 also works even if have only a 5-cutter.

I know only the mask in ShopMill for programming of a cylindrical helix. Can you explain more exactly what you mean? I don’t understand. Could you write the whole thing for a helix with output diameter of 25, slope of 0,05 and diameter enlargement per rotation 0,08 with length in z 150.
    Thanks a lot

It would be something like this:

    $TC_DP1[1,1] = 120
    $TC_DP6[1,1] = 0.001

    n10 g1 x30 y0 z0 f10000
    n20 g42 x12.5 d1 t1
    n30 g3 i-12.5 j0 turn=2999 z150 offn=240.001
    n40 g1 g40 x40 n50 m30

z150 and slope of 0.05 result in 3000 rotations.
