    Hello
    I’ve been working at Gildemeister’s machines with ELP2 and 4 for 17 years. Now we’ve got a vertical boring and turning mill with Shopturn Siemens 840D.
    I used to input 2 corrections in ELP controllers when I wanted to turn a contour or a cylindrical lug from e.g. 500mm. what should I do with Shopturn in this case?

    I believe I don’t really understand your question.

    In case of shopturn, you have to attribute a tool to your contour. It’s measured and saved in the tool storage. When you have to make a correction, you can do it under the tool wear.

    Look in the tool management. There should be a softkey “new cutting edge” there. You can plan several cutting edges for one tool there. They will be called with e.g. T1 D1 (tool 1, cutting edge 1), T1 D2 etc.
    Or just read your operating manual…

    I realize that! You didn’t understand what I meant. I smooth a cylindrical length of 100mm with diameter 70.
    I program it the following way at Gildemeister (D is tool correction):

    G0 X70 Z1 D1
    G1 X70 Z-100 D2

    Now I can turn an exact 70mm fit if the machine can’t make it on its own.
