Solidworks or Delcam Powershape for die design

    Hi,

I was wondering what is the best package for die design. I use Solidworks just now for general modelling but I am now looking to get into die design and manufacture.

I have purchased Delcam for the manufacture but it also comes with Powershape.

To be honest I would rather learn the die Solidworks features but was wondering if anyone thought that Delcam Powershape may have increased functionality as their CAM package is designed for die manufacture.

There are products specifically targeted at die design. For example:

VISI | CAD CAM software for 5 axis machining, 3D milling, mould & die manufacturing

    More specifically:

VISI Progress | Progressive Die and Press Tool | VISI
(Note: The opinions expressed in this post are my own and are not necessarily those of CNCzone and its management)

It depends if you are doing the work or if you plan to hire. If you plan to hire, you can find someone that knows solidworks anywhere. Delcam is not very common outside of the aerospace markets.
