    Hello everybody

A friend of mine asked me an exam question that I can’t answer. Could you help me?
How and why are form cutters sharpened?

    Thanks in advance

    *On CNC-controlled tool sharpening machines.

*Because it’s possible to mill (timesaving) a required (form) contour with one path.

A cherry or a conical cutter is a simple form cutter, too.

There’re almost no limits for possible contours.

Well, this could be meant, too. I thought where is it sharpened at the cutter?
It depends on the situation. That’s why I didn’t quite understand it.
    Thanks for the help

    Hello guys

A form cutter is usually a milling cutter with relieved teeth. That’s why it’s sharpened by a chip surface to avoid profile absorption.

    Greetings
