    Question removing stock too early

    Hi there,

so, I am using the trail version of meshcam and I tried to convert this object to gcode:

Name:	9l8IbyQ.jpg
Views:	0
Size:	40.1 KB
ID:	242844

As you can see, I set the stock size a bit bigger than the object itself. I did this because I want to cut this piece out of a bigger piece of MDF wood.

My problem is that the gcode of meshcam first cuts the piece out of the bigger stock before it machines the inner part. How do I change this sequence?

    Thanks.

Meshcam isn't really the best program to use for this. It's strength is true 3D while your part is 2.5D. A 2.5D CAM such as CamBam or SheetCam are much better suited for this part.

You can set machining regions and output separate g-code for the inside and outside portions.

    Re: removing stock too early

Okay, thanks both! I just got back from holiday and tested cambam.

When I load the same stl file in cambam and produce gcode, I get this path:

As you can see, it wants to turn the complete internal rectangle into dust by milling everything. I have no idea how I can let it just cut out the border of the rectangle. Does anyone of you know? I don't want to draw this object with cambam itself.

I hope it's not a problem that I ask this question in here. Otherwise, sorry .

It looks like you specified a pocketing operation for the inside. Use a profile operation and it should work fine.
