    Bendable 3/16" Alum. Rod help/thoughts?

Have Googled & searched, but nothing quite answered my question. Looking for some 3/16 Aluminum rod that-
    - can be bent to a 180 degree angle with a 1/8" radius, or very close
    - is good looking, shiny, silver
    - usefully hard without annealing/torching/etc.
    - with decent machining properties (Simple holes and flat spots)

Metallurgy is not my strong point! Seems what I've read is mostly stuff that's hard to source, needs heating/annealing/quenching etc. and there must be (?) a grade that's able to simply be bent without cracking, looks good and is still reasonably stiff. And available in small quantities whilst I'm wishing. You chaps always seem to come through, any thoughts very much appreciated! Chris REC

You need to shop by grade, this may help.

Thanks, but it does not. This info is plentiful, but I am not out to become expert in Aluminum and its alloys, just get some real-word first-hand advice. Chris REC

The rad is too tight for the rod your using ! Sounds like the part should be cast or milled .

Yup, it's a tight'n! I was considering offering what I had in mind for sale, but I'll just heat & bend a couple for myself. The final product I can't charge much for anyway, so the 'Hassle Factor' has taken it out of the running. Probably work out for the better, I machine metal, but forming is a whole other thang! If I remember right mark one side with marker and heat the other till the marker bakes off and your set to bend . Note ware scratches are and direction . Parts can split
