    4th axis on Hurco VM10i

    Hi all,
    Just getting into programming the 4th axis on our Hurco VM10i, I'm using Mastercam to program in and cutting a part that basically has a thread to it. Problem I'm having is the 4th brakes each time it moves, the code is calling an "A" move each line so the machine won't really move at all between the brake/unbrake cycle. I saw a post from back when that said something about M32 but I don't have any of those in the code. Am I missing something here in the actual program or at the machine?\

    m33/m32 is the lock on the 4th...

    Hi Shane,
    So here's my problem. Your code looks like mine when I post, the biggest difference is the G56.1 and P51 (I'm unfamiliar with those 2 codes), I don't see any lock/unlock codes on your program, so I am assuming that as the machine is reading it that it is "looking ahead" and moving smoothly as a consistent path. What's happening to me is that each time it reads a line the lock/unlock kicks in so it's a short cut/pause/short cut/pause and nothing smooth at this point. Here's a section of the code:

    This is as output from my MCX5 file and it won't allow the machine to cut smooth and continuous. Am I missing something here?

    i took those out when i ran it, changed it to g54.

    we hired out for this program, but it was pretty smooth running, no real pauses like you describe, which i have seen before as well....

    Did you figure it out yet? Is it something you can program conveniently? I do most of our 4axis stuff right on the control.

    I'm not familiar with the VM10i but I have used Milltronics/Centroid machines and the controller itself has configuration to turn this on/off. It's nothing wrong with the gcode.
