    Perfect Curves from Visual Mill

    Hi,

We have recently purchased Visual Mill Expert which runs inside our Geomagic Design drawing package. At present when I produce a 3-axis horizontal finishing tool path the finished article is coming out as a series of small facets/flats. Can someone please point me in the right direction to fix this? Or, Is it possible to machine perfect radiuses with a tool path created by visual mill in geomagic?
I would appreciate any comments. Thank you.

You need to use the fit curve option. In my version it is in the advanced tab of the MOP.
Alternatively you can use toolpath fitting in the toolpath editor.

If you're machining a mesh file, you might check how large your polygons are. If the surface is coarsely tessellated, then those facets are really there, and fitting the toolpath more closely to them will just make them stand out more. The solution in that case would be to remesh to a finer tessellation, using more triangles to make the facets smaller, until you can't see them and then rewriting the toolpaths.
