Tell me what you guys think.
I have finished my build and have been doing some movements with the trial version of Mach3. I burnt my G540 up a couple weeks ago (operator error) and just got it back from the repair shop. One issue I had both before and after the mishap deals with the Y Axis. I have attached everything and gotten good movement out of the machine.
The problem arises 5 or so minutes after starting up. The Y Axis will move just fine initially and then simply quit. There are no faults on the drive. I have verified that it's not the motor by running the motor on a different axis port. I have verified the cables by switching those up. I can turn the drive off for a short period and when I re-energize it the Y will operate for a few minutes.
When I sent the G540 back to get repaired I told them about this issue. I feel like it might be overheating. I'm not putting the drive in the enclosure until I'm sure everything is fine, so I've ruled out that the entire unit is getting hot.
Any ideas?
