    Ball Screw Bearing support

My company is having a Ball Screw repair/Replace done for our Takahashi TNC-L1 microstar. I was wondering if the Ball screw support bearings HAVE to be precision bearings (BS 20/47 7P62UF) or would it be fine to just match the bore diameter etc.. to the existing housing.

    Hi,

the locating bearing at the drive side?
This bearing needs to be precise and stiff - or the machine itself will not be precise and stiff.
So yes - it needs to be a precision bearing even though they often cost a little fortune.

    Re: Ball Screw Bearing support

the bearings must be from P4 or P5 class of precision and the ballscrew must be pretension after replacing the bearings for a good accuracy during machining.
