I'm still not clear about the axis, I had worked with full 5-axis(XYZCB) and multi-axis lathe but I had people ask me "Can you run 12-axis?". I want to know is where are they come up with other 7-axis?

The best way to learn is trial error.
Usually with extra turrets, live tooling, subspindles, Station Axis. Chech out Star Swiss Screw Machines. They have up to 23 Axies in their top end machines.
