    Y axes

    Hello group,

Is there a way to tighten up the Y axes on my Chinese 6040 CNC router? If I place my hand at the top of the gantry and move back and forth the whole gantry wants to rock. Can this be tightened up so when I machine it will hold better tolerance?

    Thanks for all the help!

    Eric

    I agree with klaas123.

I had a similar problem. It was a loose bolt on the Y leadscrew. Problem is that it could not be tightened properly without causing it to jam. Proper fix would be to shim it, but as a quick fix I used loctite on the bolt and tightened just enough to avoid slop without binding. Have not had any issues after doing this, and the machine has a few hours on it since I did this.
