    Fusion 360

Does anyone have a subscription to fusion 360?Autodesk is coming out with Fusion 360 Ultimate on 10/08/2014 which will cost $1200 a year. but if you subscribe to standard before then ($300 a year) you get the ultimate version for as long as you keep your subscription going. But then I read something about Cloud points which cost a buck a point. I have no idea how they are used tho or if you even need them for doing CAD/AM in fusion 360. I work at a small machine shop using Master version 8 (not X8) for many years. We want to upgrade to Solidworks or Inventor with a plugin for CAD.Fusion 360 Ultimate gives you 3 axis machining and 3d cad. The website for Autodesk is hard to make sense of.Any feed back would be great thank you .

try getting ahold of autodesk . but more than likely cloud services are included in the price . I will say fusion does not support milling of mesh models that are imported (from my use for organic models)
other than that it is easy to use like solidworks and the cam part is very user friendly . I would download the demo and try it for yourself there are youtube videos to help get you started .

Thank you for the reply Tony. I will find some time to get in touch with Autodesk before the 8th.We do not import anything at this time and have not worked with any mesh models so that should not be an issue.
    Thanks again.

I will say if you post a question it gets replied too by people that know what they are doing and if you have a problem . I have had someone not working for autodesk mod a post for me on the weekend. It is a very friendly user base

    Re: Fusion 360

I subscribed a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything about cloud points. I also haven't had a problem with machining imported models, although they weren't mesh models. I have machined from surface bodies so it may just require some converting to solids or fitting surfaces to your mesh model.

$300/year for full CAD and 3D machining is too good to pass up.

Can you elaborate on their response concerning cloud points and Fusion360?

    Sure Spaceman,
From my understanding there is no consumption of Cloud points with Fusion 360. I paid for a years subscription ($300) and have been screwing around with it for the past few days. So far it's pretty amazing .Oh yeah , Autodesk pushed back the release of the Ultimte version until 11/15/2014 so I believe the free upgrade is still available.

Yes, you can still get the $300/year for life deal through 11/15.

Thanks for posting this, the free upgrade deal looks to good to pass up, and I am thinking really hard about subscribing.

does anyone know what cloud points are, and what they may be used for?
searching google only shows pages about point clouds.

    Re: Fusion 360

Cloud points are used for some of Autodesk's subscription services. I just signed up for Fusion 360 and was told I would not need them. One note is if you sign up monthly, quarterly or yearly to keep the upgrade you can't switch from one to the other after the 15th if you want to keep the upgrade. So I purchased the yearly subscription (best deal).

I see where they extended the promotional offer, but I don't see where they pushed off the release of Ultimate until December?

    I see the opposite.

Wait... Looking again, it looks like the date was changed back to 11/15. There was a December date an hour ago.
