Parked steel wheels are flat spotted?

Hi, I have a presentation to do for the refurbishment work I've been doing.
I need to discuss the flat spots that are present on the steel wheels that are being refurbished. These weren't worn, these look like they have just been dented flat by gravity.
They may have been static for as much as five years but probably less, they have 40 years service, that wear is evident and obvious but not bad, however the flat spots are perfectly smooth.
I can't find the correct terms to describe this. Any help?

How many wheels; what are they attached to; were they attached to shafts in pairs (like on overhead hoists?); must they be refurbed to equal dia.'s or to a prescribed dia.?

I doubt if it from being stationary, most likely they were skidded over a period due to lack of traction etc, same thing happens to train car wheels when these are braked.
They not only get flat, but get a burn spot where the contact point melts!!.
