Your initials L.D.? Have you ever seen beautiful wood thumbhole stocks for the AR rifles?

    Sorry, No I'm not L.D.

I have seen a few custom wood sets for AR's. Some of the nicest was done by a stock maker in South Korea who was trying to break in to the U.S. market.

I haven't seen the SK ones, but if you ever saw any on RND guns, and those on the JP Enterprises, you have seen my work. Wildest I did for RND was a highly figured curly maple with a purple dye and high polish finish.

You should also take time to look at the scale steam engines Ray cast and machined the parts. A 100% scratch built job. True art.

Do you by any chance know Ray's last name? If so, pm me, I may know him from long ago!

We machine Ar 15 and Ar 10 lowers 5 days a week from billet 7075. We Use 3 set ups. 1 vise wiith parallels and another vise with a custom Jig and a 4th axis on another machine to machine the magwell and trigger pocket and buffer at 1 time. Attachment 257756Attachment 257756 i dont mind helping advise but cant share program files due to patent pending

    Re: milling an AR15 lower..

Sorry Guys i have been very very busy and lost my cnc zone password. The engraving was programed in GiBBS cam and i despise Gibbs Cam and run on a Fadal VMC 4020 cycle time for that is about 9 mi. The Magwell is NOT BROACHED, there is a better way. (1/8) 6 inch air craft drill and drill the corners and 2 holes .750 in the middle of the magwell and then a 3/16 carbide end mill and machine it out. this method keeps the corners sharp.

As far as the profile is done we start with a 2 x 5 billet block 9 inches long and us a 2 inch shell mill to profile and deck the part off running around 9000rpm at around 250 inches a minute. along with a couple of 1/2 carbide 2 loc endmills and 1 5/16 ball nose end mill.

sorry i have been MIA for a while.

Does anyone know where I can get a CAD drawing of an AR10. I am finishing a 80% and will be importing it into Fusion 360.
