Hello New Texas member lookimg for help

Hello everyone I'm a new member on this forum but no stranger to forums. Im a US Army veteran turned educator full time, and a hand engraver on my free time here is my work Home I'm really interested in this wonderful world of cnc. I hope I'm in the right place, my end goal is to be able to make 1911 grips im both aluminum and wood and to be able to inlay some precious metals in the wood.
was wondering if this community had anyone in the Texas area that would be willing to let me see thier machine and set up. I am completely new to this, I already checked with my local community college and no classes arw offered (frustrating) evrything is now geared to the oil field work. Thanks for any help. I need to find a cnc machine and software for dummies. was looking at the shapeoko 2. I'd rather hear from the community first.

    Thanks for the help

    Thanks everyone take care

We build suppressors and rifles, all of our engraving is done on a taig mill with a 4th axis. These are rather inexpensive machines and do a nice job engraving. My advice is to go with something like the Dearmond DSLS4000 because it uses servo motors. This machine would fit the work envelope you need.

Sorry, I'm in Ohio. Do some looking on youtube at the taig mills. This will be about as easy as you can get started in engraving. If I can help with anything just let me know.
