    Is a Maho MH400E with Philips 432 a good buy ?

I will buy a machine some time in the future.

I would prefer a machine with a Fanuc or Mitsubishi controller due to the availablity of spares / service.

A Maho MH400E with a Philips controller 432 it is located 500 miles away in Adelaide , South Australia is available and I am wondering what is the downside of this machine - is it too old and obsolete ?

Any info about this machine would be appreciated.

    Regards

    Hello,

I know this machine, I learned the programming 10 years ago on a MH400.
This machine was always broken down ( and don't remember why, maybe due to an electronic card ) and some G code are different from Fanuc for exemple.
Else, it's good to start, these machine can communicate with a pc with a rs232 port.
That which I knew have a remote controller but it is an option.
I think that is more interresting to buy a Fanuc or an Heidenheim, it's more easier to obtain spare parts ( my opinion ).
But all that depends the price, it's your job to take the decision.

I run a 600E 1986, should be the same machine only larger.

It was and still is our first CNC mill, about 6 years now, I love it!....but then
I don't know anything else in CNC!

I run manual Deckels and Mahos in Europe, always liked Mahos
more then Deckels because of the sturdiness, a bit more solid.
Never had anything in mechanical going wrong on the CNC,
bought it in super nice condition, [not abused] and still looks the same.
Oh...forgot, it needed electric motor brake repaired.
Also, a new or refurbished monitor, lightning hit it ones and
for boards got fried!...that was a major bill!
