    TGriz:

    You need to define "swapped".

Only at one end, if so which end? Or both ends?

Swapping at one end only you may need to be very careful what you do. You can also swap motor control boards.

Problem Moved With Cable Swap? Sounds Like Could Be Bad Cable. Did Y Axis WoRke After Cable Swap?

    TGriz:

On rereading your post it appears that that you only switched the cables at one end, the motor control end.

On a brush type motor you have just two wires to the armature, in addition there are encoder wires. On a brushless motor more wires are required for the motor.

Brush type motors were used until about 95-96.

On a brush type motor it is it is unlikely to be a power cable problem, but could be the encoder cable, also possibly the encoder.

The Y-axis cable is the easiest experiment to try with a substitute cable.

You are saying the X axis servo amp drives the Y axis okay when you swap cables but the X axis now driven by the Y axis servo amp shows the problem that was first seen on the Y axis? This sounds like your Y axis sevo amp is faulty. I think it would be unusual for a cable fault to affect one direction but not the other.
