Giving this thread a bump. Delving into 5 axis and looking for a post processor for a UMC500 or UMC750
what is an external dll? I tried opening a few of them from the madcam file and I can not read them , at least with the software on my computer
thanks

It is possible to use an external dll in madCAM 5Xtra. This dll is a piece of code that handles the kinematics, angular limits, overtravels (automatic retract, rewind and approach function) and simulation of the machine. There is an example in the help file under Options / Cretae Machine / External dll on how to create your own dll. It may not be advisable to make your own dll, although this is possible. We have a number of standard dlls that can be used for different types of machines. We support all madCAM 5Xtra users with a complete machine setup that includes dll, machine part simulation and post processor. We do this at no extra cost.
Thanks,
Joakim
