Using diameter instead of radius? + Multiple instances of the program?

    Hi all.

    I have 2 questions.

Is it possible to configure SolidWorks so that I can input diameter instead of radius when making a circle in the Sketch environment when making a part? How do I do it?

Is it possible to run several instances of the software, so that I can have one instance open on each of my monitors? This was possible in other 3D software I tested, but for some reason SolidWorks wont let me.

    Thanks

Do you mean when you're doing a revolve feature? Use a center line to produce a doubled dimension.

I can open multiple instances with no problems. Which version are you using?

If you are using "screen input", in the circle dialog property manager there is a check box for "diameter dimension". That should set all future circle dimensions to diameter in sketch mode. I am set up to "auto show property manager"

Thank Mike. I will try that.

I am using version 2015. Is it a setting to allow multiple instances?

Why do you need to have two instances of SW running? I only use one monitor but I'm pretty sure you can have SW display on both monitors.

It does spread over 2 monitors, but that leaves you with all menues on one screen. Also it's a problem since my monitors are not alike and the software fits itself to the monitor with the lowest resolution, which is logically my secondary screen.

I found out it can actually run two instances, although the second one to be opened does not work with autorecovery in case of crash, but atleast I can have a document open on the other monitor for viewing.

Yes Mike, it does allow me to input diameter how you explained. Thank you.

Please post a screen shot, I cannot find that check box we are up to 2015 sp2 and have never seen that option, auto show is checked.
