Fanuc 6mb problem loading parameters from file on laptop

I can punch out parameters (P-9999 <punch pb>) to laptop & save OK. When I try to load that parameter file from the laptop, I can not get it to work.

I have followed the instructions in the 6mb maint manual, tried other combinations of mode, E-stop in/out, and the control never seems to start reading from the laptop. Yes, parameter write enable switch is on, and I can load part programs from the laptop OK.

I have tried loading parameter files (for that machine) on two other 6mb controls, and none of them will start to read in the parameter file.

There must be something I am missing.

    Cheers,
    Steve

There are some controls where the e-stop signal goes through th plc; in that case the control may not see the e-stop signal and won't read parameters until is does see the signal.
You may have to physically jumper the e-stop signal to the control.
Also, did you enter P-9999 before inputting?

    Memoryman,

Yes to doing the P-9999 <input pb>. I will have to dig into the wiring for these controls to follow the E-stop signal. BTW, all the controls are on Mazak machines, so they are probably wired in a similar manner.
The attached image is the wiring for E-stop, so I am not understanding what might be jumpered.

    Cheers,

are you on the Parameter screen?
    My 6MB manual says....
    Parameter Write Enable switch ON
    Emergency Stop ON
    [PARAM]
    P-9999 [READ]

Make sure that diagnostic 38.4 is a 'zero' (ESTOP active)

All machines are in operation right now, so it will likely be after normal hours that I can look at that.

Found the problem - me. When uploading part programs to the control, the word 'EDIT' flashes on the bottom of the screen as soon as I hit the 'Read' pb. I assumed (bad move) the same would occur when loading parameters. Not true, no message flash, it just waits for the upload of the parameter file to begin, and the screen only changes after the entire parameter file has been loaded.

    Cheers,
    Steve
