    emco f1 to pc controller

I have an emco f1 cnc machine. Controller is really old and useless as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to go to a pc based controller. (mach software). Please tell me what I need to do. Gekos etc. Thanks. It's for educational use, I'd like the kids to see something that isn't as old and useless as Fred Flintstone.

I scrapped my F1's controller and built a PC-based controller using MACH3 software, Xylotex stepper motors (3) at http://www.xylotex.com/StepperMotor.htm
and a xylotex 3-axis controller at
    http://www.xylotex.com/3axBoard.htm
and a power supply identical to this one:
    http://www.xylotex.com/24VDC_4-5A-PowerSupply.htm.

    Works great!

Here's a link to a connection diagram for all the xylotex stuff. This is essentially what I'm using. They have kits, packaged controllers, heavier-duty motors (haven't needed them, mine don't even run very warm), and they have good tech support. This'll be about the lowest-cost way to upgrade. Otherwise, if you have a few bucks, consider using Geckodrives and servomotors. Not so much more accurate, as faster. Even the xylotex stuff I listed is much faster than the stock Emco F1 motors and controller

    power supply

    Hi,

I'm new to this site and noticed your comments about the F1. I'm using an F1 and have just blown the power supply in the controller; I'm looking for a new one. If you still have yours and would like to sell it, or know of one, please contact me?

    Thanks,

    Leslie

    F1 power supply

I just received an F1 and am considering replacing the controller etc. IF you still need a power supply contact me and we'll see what we can work out.
