    help identify shear?

    im looking into buying a metal shear that has no data plates or branding all i know is it needs to be rewired its seen some abuse its a 48 inch cut capacity and its pneumatic. can anybody identify it and give me a lead?

    It might be an Economy Tool and Die. I have a 36" manual stomp shear and it is built from plate stock pretty much like your example. There is zero information available on the company, the only thing I ever found was another one slightly different from mine that sold at auction. I'll attach a photo. Mine is the one on the left (since fully restored), your example looks more like the one on the right with the solid sides instead of legs. Dennis

    does it work good for you? he says the blade needs to be resharpened and it needs to be rewired.... hes saying make an offer so what would you pay?

    It works fine. I only paid $35 for mine at auction, so putting a bit into it was no concern. The best local price I found on sharpening was $2.00 per inch, so the two 36" blades ran about $150. I did find some cheaper places online but shipping would be high. Dennis
