    NT GAS CYLINDER ISSUE

Hi, new guy on the forum here.
i was wondering if any of the Mori Seiki NT-4250 machine owner/users had issues with the Sandvik gas cylinder clamping units failing.
what was the turnaround for parts and what kind of cost was the replacement unit.
i have heard this is not an uncommon occurrence on this machine tool.

appreciate any feedback from you all

    Mitch

As far as turn around don't know as we throw them in scrap hopper.
Price is around $2800.00 for the drawbar.
    We have 12 NT4250 and replace 4-5 a year.
If you change one DO NOT FORGET to install C - Clip before clamping tool in spindle.

    Re: NT GAS CYLINDER ISSUE

thanks for the reply Vinman, it seems i may have been over charged, the Mori unit i received from Dallas via Toronto came in at $13.8k, i thought too the Sandvik part was cheaper..... anyone know the difference in quality to be $11.4K more expensive.

what is the issue with the cylinder where you need to change that often, anything you can point a stick at?
i understand one failing is running without a tool in the spindle, but that is mainly the collet fingers go out of balance.
why does this cylinder fail ?

    Mitch.
