    R8 NT30 spindle runout

I'm fighting .003" spindle runout on my NT30 setup. I'm running the shoulder ball bearings, got rid of the tapered rollers. Spindle was just getting to hot. On the inside of my NT30 I'm at .0005" runout. But with cutter measuring the .003". Thinking of switching to R8.

    What have you guys measured?

I will measure mine today as I have been wanting to for a while now. I also have some stuff I need to cut so I will report back with my run out numbers .. I have though about switching it back to a R8 but like the fact I can hog stuff off with the stronger holder

OK I made a video ( have not posted it ) but I checked my spindle with a holder in it with a 4 flute carbide BN 3/8" diameter and I came up with .0005" out I think that is plenty good and was quite surprised to tell you the truth. now that was moving it by hand I am curious to know what it has for run out with the clattery spindle going .

Do you have the stock bearings in your spindle? What brand of NT30 holder do you have? Check a few of yours please. I have one that's .0005" and others that vary from .003 to .005!

    3 8" NMTB 30 End Mill Tool Holder 1 2 13 NMTB30 Ground | eBay

I have a few of the tax and they seem to be pretty nice. I only have 1 of the 3/8 but I ordered another and it should B here any day and will check it with the same cutter. As far as bearing they are not the original I would have to go through the original owners post to find out what kind they are if he posted them .
