    Microstep Setting & Kernel Speed?

I am just now getting to the setup of my Lathe after a long break.

I Currently have it set at 8 micro steps or 1600 rev's in the motor tuning what would be recommended for the hardware listed below? On my drivers I am able to select the micro steps. from 2 to 256

Computer is 2.2ghz CPU Mach is running it at 25000hz Kernel Speed. I am Using an ESS with PMDX-126
My Screw is 5 turns per Inch.

The recommended kernel speed is the lowest one that will give you the rpm you need. This depends on your microstep settings.
I'd probably leave it at 8 microsteps.

    Thanks, I will experiment.

Here is a Video of the Homing

The odd noise on the X axis when reversing? Also where do you set how far it backs up after tripping the home switch?
