    Question HAAS VF3 Parameters

    Good day,

The our old VF3 (pre-2005) needs a battery replacement. We have a new battery pack and external battery, and, per recommendations, I am backing up the parameters. The VF3 has a floppy drive, which is dead. Years of coolant and metal dust kill them right quick. So, sending it over the serial port seems to work. I pulled up the parameters, and selected Send RS-232, which dumped it to my terminal program. Now, before I power down and dismantle the circuit board sandwich (bad design award goes to Haas!) and do the battery replacement, I wanted to make sure the parameter file that I received is the actual parameter file, and not some sort of unusable diagnostics. Could some review the snippet posted below and let me know if I'm on the right track?

    Thank you,

    Re: HAAS VF3 Parameters

    Shopgeek,

This is tough without physically loading these into a Haas control. These values are the equivalent of Greek to most of us. My two recommendations would be to replace the floppy drive ($20 est.) and back up all your machine data, not just your parameters.

    Thank you,

I have read a lot of text and none of it so far leaves me certain about anything.

I would like to back up all the information but have yet to find any clear instructions that when complete assures that everything was saved.
A file was created sure enough but how does one know it is all the parameters and not just sections?

Can you explain how to save all parameters for the Haas (Mill in this case)

    Thanks
    Ken
