Here's another one for you knowledgable types. I just took delivery of a Makino FNC74. It's absolutely loaded with the most state of the art stuff available in 1982 so I'm just wondering what you guys might think of such an animal and what you might suggest with regard to use and setting up + upgrading that might be possible. It looks like a real beauty but of course will be a little slower than current models. It has a Fanuc 6MB control and DC servos with an AC spindle motor. I'm hoping it will be capable of surfacing but if not I'll use my Milltronics for that kind of work. How are the DC servos for speed and accuracy? Any suggestions on how to get the most out of this oldie but goodie?

No1. Back up the parameters if you they did not come with the machine.
Check the Motor brushes for wear, set of brushes $20.00, new motor $2k.
