    More memory needed

I have run into a problem a couple times now where my programs are to larger for the memory. My 1994 Haas has 3/4 meg of memory available. No floppy drive only RS232 and I can't figure out how to get the machine to receive code via DNC. Do Haas machines have a parameter setting increase memory or is it a memory chip on a board?

    Thanks

Setting 55, Enable DNC From MDI. Also, if you are sending line numbers and all of the comments etc., delete them to save memory. Memory size is fixed unless you have it physically added, don't believe it is already there and needs to be turned on.

I've always ran from 'tape' mode when program too large....this will drip-feed the program to control.

Like Silver said you could drip feed from the computer, or as another option check out info on portable drip feeds which you plug into an RS232. Here is one that we have but I will admit it has been a bit buggy: Data Shuttles - Memex Automation

Thanks Guys. I just got a quote for the Memex Data Shuttle and it is $760.0 with shipping.

My machine does not have the floppy drive so I wounder if one can can be installed if the machine already has the options in it. If so I think that placing a USB floppy emulator in it place would be a thing to try. The USB floppy emulator already exists for around a $100 bucks.

I agree that sounds like it would be the way to go, and an idea that may be worth us looking in to. How would that work at the machine though. Is there a way to make the machine look at a different drive, instead of it's normal location for running a program?

The usb floppy drive may not work for you. It is tricking the pc into believing its a floppy drive. The max file size will still be 1.44mb just like a real floppy.

just use a laptop in front of the machine and hook it up via rs232 ports....you'll see the nc code on the laptop.

    Silver,

Don't know why I was never able to think about doing that ourselves. That is even better yet. Thanks!
