    Serial encoding FSSB Fanuc

    Hello,

I have to work on a 5 axis machine using FANUC CNC Power Motion i-MODEL A.
Thoses power motions have an FSSB optical fiber to send and receive "a long serial message" with many information in it.
In my machine I need to send and receive through the same optical fiber and I have to create the "long message".
Is there somebody who knows the coding mode and the words in it ?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Richard

Have you contacted Fanuc? The info may be available in a document.
Interestingly, I have been looking at doing the same thing, but have not had a commercial reason for doing so.
Let me know if you see that reason.

    Yes for years now :wee:
Is anybody who has an idea about which logical analyser open source is the best to choose for working on the subject.
I see 50MHz data NRZI in 4B/5B, I hope to include a Python script to "show" the frames.

That depends on the signal levels; if they are differential pairs I have used the appropriate line receiver to convert to TTL (for ex. 75188->75189)

Signal level is not a problem. They use Fiber Optic, we have a receiver Opto to Elec in 5V.
    With that :

I would like to see in "live" ITJK90007050FE1B339FFF...

I understand that with a Logic analyser supported by Sigrok project and Python script it "will" be possible, and then to look at FE1B-339F in detail.

Any 'scope with the proper communication decoding can do that; I did it in the '90s for the Fanuc serial bus on the FS6, and 6 years ago for the Fanuc I/O LINK; even developed a rs-233 interface for that.

    Hello HerrBi,

I wonder if you had the chance to continue working with this type of controller (PM i-MODEL A) I am just getting to know one of them these past very few days. The system that I am working on is a Glass Processing Machine that has DUAL CNC control, (one for the contouring/cutting the glass panels and the other if for the breakout of excessive glass on the borders) the two processes run simultaneously thus the machine uses two control units, the other (main) control is a 30i that has the bigger role controlling most of the machine functions, (glass panels handling in and out and finishing) being the MODEL A in charged of the breakout process only.
My inquire is regarding the type of relation there are in between the two control units, and also, most important, when we do an "all data back up" from the main 30i control, we would like to know if the data stored inside the MODEL A is also being saved. We are not certain about this saving and we need to know if there is a procedure to do a back up for the MODEL A since the OEM did not provide this information. Any information or guidance regarding the use and configuration a MODEL A unit will be very well appreciated. Thank you!
