OK, I need a very accurate way to level a machine, would you use a Machinist Level or a laser level? I need to get within .001-.005.

Paul the size of the machine and it's methoud of leveling might dictate how to level it. If it's a large machine, a machinist level would not be the best choice.

No greater love can a man have than this, that he give his life for a friend.
what distance is .001-.005 the over? The Starrett master precision level is graduated in 1/2 thou per foot increments. They expensive, beautifully made and available on fleabay. with machine tools, other than coolant, whether its level or not in itself doesn't matter, its just that level is such a convenient reference. what you are trying to do by getting all parts in the same plane (reference to level) is to remove twist. curious as to what the application and objective is?
