    Toolpath calculation bug?

    Hello,

I am not sure why Cambam calculats for my pocket operation not the right toolpath.
The problem is that i want to cut a pocket with a 6mm diameter tool. When i choose a step over of 0.6 Cambam generates a toolpath that
did not cut the whole "middle". Between two pathes there are 6.88mm distance ...

I will give you three examples:

0.6 step over (distance between the two lines in the middle is 6.88mm)

    Attachment 268894

0.5 step over (distance between the two lines in the middle is ~2mm)

    Attachment 268898

0.7 step over (distance between the two lines in the middle is 5.54mm)

    Attachment 268896

So my question is: Why does Cambam does not add a toolpath in the middle like it does for step over 0.5? 6mm tool and 6.88mm distance between pathes?

    Thank you!

    Re: Toolpath calculation bug?

The first tooth path is the cutter radius away from the wall. Then each successive cut is taken at Stepover * cutter diameter in from the last cut until there is no room left to step. So a step over of .5 would mean the cutter moves in 3mm. I haven't gone thru all the combinations but I don't think there is a step size that would result in leftover material in the center (a gap of >cutter radius).
