Hi,
I need some help or ideas on my rs-232 issue im having. I have a matsuura RA-1 with a yasnac mx3 control and as of yesterday I had no issues sending or recieving programs from the control with both my desktop pc using the serial port or my laptop with a usb serial adapter but this morning when i went to load a progam the machine doesnt seem to sense the incoming program and will not load anything but I can still send programs to both pc's without an issue and have checked both connectors to see if there are any shorts loose wires bent pins ect... and all looks well and checked continuity and that checked out good as well so im kinda of stuck at the moment. If anyone has any solutions or ideas I would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Check the total value of prm 6026~6029... they should be set all the same....parameter first.. thats quick and easy
Also 6003 should be set to 17... if still not working...
You may have an issue with the receiving side port of the RS232 on the MX3. If you can get to a local radio shack and pick up a RS232 tester ($18)
You can put this in the line and look at the send and receive lights. I'm thinking the receive light may be dead.
I also found this site you can purchase online. I mentioned Radio Shack because you can get it right away.

Ok, Heres where everything is at now.
prm6026 total = 24
prm6027 total = 10
prm6028 total = 24
prm6029 total = 10
prm6003 total = 34

I have a tester and when I plug it into just the machine
TD
RTS
DTR
all light up green

When I plug the tester only into the computer RD lights up green and everything else is off.

When the computer is plugged into the machine with the tester inline
TD
RD
RTS
CTS
DSR
DCD
DTR
All light green

and when sending a program to the machine from the computer
RTS
CTS
DSR
DCD
DTR
All light red
RD Lights both red and green
TD is lit green

when outputing from the machine to the computer
RTS
CTS
DSR
DCD
DTR
All light red
TD Lights both red and green
RD is lit green

hopefully that all makes sense and helps. I really appreciate the help I am totally lost at the moment and have been pulling my hair out all day. lol

I have also tried changing everything to the settings you recommended but no change and when I change prm 6003 to 17 the port doesnt work at all according to the manual this prm 6003 switches between port 1 and 2 so that would make sense but if there's 2 ports where is the 2nd one I can only find one on the machine. would it be possible to just use the other port since the port im using now is acting up?

There are two ports on the motherboard. When 6003 is set to 17 port 1 is active. When 6003 is set to 34 port 2 is active. Only one port is hardwired from the connector on the motherboard.
Factory set this to port 1 always. Someone maybe moved the wires in the connector to access port 2 when port 1 was blown? Kind of rare to see 34 in 6003.
