my z axis is backwards when I want it to go up it goes down. I was wondering if m ports and pins for my mach3 software is wrong? If so what is the correct settings.

You could try going into Config/ ports and pins/motor outputs and change the direction bit from high active to low active, or vice-versa.

Just to double check -- the convention for Z is that the negative direction is down into the material, and the positive direction is up.
