    Lightbulb CNC thoughts

    Hello!

Im planning to build a tabletop cnc machine for pcb milling.

Heres a pic of some stuff i bought on ebay + two stepper motors which i forgot to include when taking the pic:

The linear bearings i´m gonna use is from a scanner and from a printer, do you guys think these will work good enough for pcb milling ?

    engraving

I have a friend who has an older machine that is an actual CNC engraver that they used to use where work before they got a laser engraver. It looks to be in pretty good shape. I am not an expert in this so I cannot tell you what is needed to make it run (ie. controllers etc). He asked me this morning if I knew anyone who was looking for such a machine. I said no at the time but it is funny how karma works.

I dont have much information about the machine itself but from what he said it was going to be pretty reasonably priced. He could fill you in more. If you are interested we can find a way to get you connected.....

Under-Dog told me about your PCB milling machine.
    I have a New Hermes Vanguard 3000 engraving machine, travel is X 10" x Y8" x Z1"
the control works well but it is totally outdated (dos 3.0 I believe)
Mechanically in very good shape with ball screws on X an Y axis , and slide bearings ø16 on steel columns, much sturdier than printer components.

It's a high speed spindle but it can be replaced by a dremel very easily.

If you are interested, let me know,

    Tekko,

If you havn't already, take a look at the "Photo Gallery" here on the zone. The link below is a search I did for " pcb " (3 pages).

Might give you some good ideas, plus you can see the parts that each machine cut.
